Metropolis (1927) by Thea Von Harbou and Fritz Lang
Friday, May 16th
A screening of the classic silent Sci-Fi masterpiece, Metropolis (1927) by Fritz Lang, featuring an iconic robot, flying
transportation and videophones. Set in the future, it depicts the rising of the underground workers in an attempt to take back
control of their city. This screening will be of the rarely seen 90 min abridged version originally circulated internationally.
UVA Film Lecturer, Matt Marshall will be performing a live piano and organ accompaniment based on the original film score
by Gottfried Huppertz.
